Happy hump day to you!
It's been awhile, I know. This month has been hectic aaaaand I've been lazy about posting. Sorry bout it! Here are some "highlights"...
One week ago our beloved Labrador, Presley, was hit by a car in front of the entire family. It was traumatic to say the least. Not only was the whole scene horrific, the boys screaming and crying, me trying to get it together to calm them down when all I felt like doing was the exact same, watching my poor baby get hit... Ugh, it was awful. But Daniel and I truly loved her. She was the first big dog we've ever had and we both agree, the absolute best dog either of us have had. She was sweet, loving, playful, we loved to take her for hikes and even on the lake... Our hearts ache for her. Even Daniel keeps saying he can't believe that a dog got into our hearts the way she did.
What exactly happened was this (and we will never forgive ourselves), we were taking Presley to walk the boys to school, only that day we decided to let the boys take their scooters. She was over excited and chased them down the street. We took the leash but she usually stays very close to us and waits for us to cross the street. Daniel and I finally caught up to them and told them to cross the residential street which is perpendicular to a more busy road. This is probably confusing but lets just say they were walking parallel to the busy road, does that make sense? They were not crossing the high-traffic road. At the time we were going, it was a lot busier than we were used to. Anyway, they crossed with Presley and I guess she just got so excited by all the cars and activity that she bolted into the busy road and bam! immediately got hit by an SUV. She died instantly. We've been so angry with ourselves for not putting her on the leash before we left.
It's only been a week but we already missed having a big dog. So this past Saturday, we decided to go "look" at the animal shelter... Well you can probably guess how that ended up! lol We found a 6 month old, black and white Pointer/Lab mix and she's just as sweet as she can be. We picked her up yesterday from getting spayed at the vet and got her home for the first time last night. She slept in our bed too. lol She has the softest, silkiest hair I've ever felt on a dog. It broke my heart to leave her this morning, she was crying and crying! :( Can't wait to go home and play with her. We named her Stella.
Dan was out of town 2 weeks ago so I did a surprise project like I always try to do when he leaves for a week. I banged this baby out in one night!
I LOOOOVE it!!! Here are some before/during pics:
I'm really happy with how it came out, I think it really brightens up that room. Now I just need to get a rug to go under the ottoman that I made and recover the $10 wingback chair that I got at a swap meet and the room will be complete! Well, that is until I can get window coverings and maybe repaint the walls... lol It's a never ending process.
That's all for now, folks! Have a great rest of your week.

Painted our buffet finally! It is now coral. |
Before. So blah. |
I put wood filler in the holes and drilled a single hole. |
After the first coat. |
I added sconces that I stole from our laundry room. |
Don't mind that white blob on the floor by the dining set, that's just my mom's dog Coco. haha |
